Liking the challenge feels like sadism

I actually uttered those words yesterday. While running. For the third time in a week. For the third time in a week in front of sporty football type people with their sporty gear and their sporty haircuts.

Prior to a couple of weeks ago the suggestion of running as an actual fitness option would have gotten you a death stare and a mini rant on how I hate running and refuse to do something I hate. I would rather walk or dance my way to fitness I would have said. I would rather you get out of my face I would have thought. But a new found realisation that I had been happy eating my way to a larger wardrobe has resulted in some pretty major changes for me as mentioned previously.

Kate’s suggestion that we try doing the Couch to 5k running program meant that I’d have an exercise buddy and someone to be accountable to. So I said yes!

One week and three walk/runs down and I still feel like there is absolutely no way I’ll survive a full 30 minute run in just eight short weeks of training. But I’m going to try.

Next week the run parts go from 60 seconds to 90 seconds and that’s enough of a challenge to focus on for now.
