OMG Shoes!

I could not believe my luck when a last minute (because I get up so late and am so slow getting ready) dash into town to have a quick shop started with picking up the much coveted Nike Dunk red and white check hi tops!

Not only were they $40 cheaper than when they first caught my eye Shoe Connection are also having a buy one get one half price sale! :D So The Boy got a pretty pair of shoes too and we both saved an extra $40 something each.

OMG Shoes!

These are my first pair of Nikes. :D

candy and monsters

This candy necklace is new in the shop. We’ve got a few new things up and a few more coming this week.

I also picked up the new Dan Brown – The Lost Symbol. I haven’t read an actual book in a while, keeping up with the hundreds of blogs I read is enough for me. I don’t care what people say, I like Dan Brown’s writing. It’s easy to get caught up in.

  1. that necklace is so cool! It looks really great with that hoodie too… which is also cool! haha I need to get out of the 90s and find a new word.

  2. First pair of Nikes? Ever? Really? Way cute!!!

Oh gosh, when was the last time I finished a book? Yup, just before I started blogging. Now I can’t even finish a magazine!

  3. Your new shoes are the shiz. Man, the weather is getting so warm here that the thought of wearing anything but flip-flops or bare feet is a little scary. But those shoes make me want to wear my sneakers again…Darn you!
I just finished reading ‘Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World’ by Haruki Murakami, Crazy, but truly worth the read if you have some spare time :)

  4. Thanks ladies!

@Ela – Yep first pair. I feel quite bad supporting their manufacturing processes. :S

@Adele – Luckily for me the weather never really gets too hot here. It was sunny yesterday but DAMN it was freezing. I could never live in Oz, I would die in the summer!

  5. I’ve never understood why Nike has been the one people pick on. I’m not sure if this will make you feel better or worse, but I’ve assumed that basically all the sports brands (and, for that matter, the vast majority of clothing, toys, electronics…) have the similar manufacturing processes to Nike. If the tag says ‘Made in China/Taiwan/Indonesia etc’ you can pretty much guarantee it’s made in sweatshop conditions. I mean, companies wouldn’t be having their wares made there if they had to provide the same pay and conditions.

    Sad fact of capitalism.

  6. I guess it’s because they have a huge market share. They’re easy to pick on because they lead they way. And they often charge a lot more for their shoes than other brands.
It has also been said that if they changed their practices, most others would follow suit. I don’t know how true that is but it sounds feasible.

You’re right that they’re far from being the only ones who run sweatshops though.
